William is a former BBC foreign correspondent, editor and producer, who now works as an independent consultant advising governments and other organisations on how to optimise their strategic communications, especially at challenging times.  This has included setting up and managing training programmes for journalists and for officials and others who work with the media.

William has more than 30 years of broad experience within Afghanistan, where freelance journalists continue to face considerable dangers.
