Crossing illegally from South Sudan into the Nuba Mountains, the team documented a hidden humanitarian catastrophe where more than a million people are trapped and starving amid Sudan’s brutal civil war.

Relying on his long-cultivated local contacts, Wil helped the team uncover powerful human stories: Nafisa Abdulrahim, a nurse caring for thousands with no resources, and Ezekiel Ayub, who rescues orphaned children from the camps.

Filming in 40-degree heat, with no power, phone signal, or reliable transport, Wil’s intimate camerawork reveals both the scale of famine and the resilience of those enduring it – capturing rare testimony of ethnic violence and neglect unseen by the outside world.
