This film is a powerful investigation from Channel 4 News’ Gaza team. Filmed by Zaher inside Gaza and produced remotely from London by Yousef, who has been displaced from Gaza, the report exposes the devastating impact of an Israeli airstrike that killed 15 members of one family, leaving only a 7-year-old boy and his mother alive.
Zaher’s intimate access and courageous fieldwork bring rare authenticity from within the sealed territory, while Yousef’s coordination and storytelling shape the report into a moving portrait of survival and loss.
Together, they exemplify fearless journalism and the determination to keep Gaza’s human stories visible to the world.
Bio
Yousef is an internationally recognised award-winning journalist, filmmaker, and humanitarian. Born and raised in the Jabalia refugee camp in northern Gaza, he is known for his powerful, deeply human storytelling and evocative visual reporting. Since joining Channel 4 News’ Foreign Team in 2018, Yousef has been instrumental in producing acclaimed international coverage that has received honours including the International Emmy, BAFTA, Foreign Press Association (FPA) Award, and Royal Television Society (RTS) Award.
Zaher is a freelance photographer and filmmaker from the Gaza Strip. At just 22 years old, he has contributed powerful visual reporting and documentary work to leading international outlets including Channel 4, Al Jazeera, Reuters, The Washington Post, and The New York Times. Having lived through the siege of Gaza since it started, Zaher continues to bear witness to its ongoing humanitarian crisis through his courageous and compelling storytelling.
