Matt Cooke

Matt leads a global team within the Google News Initiative, working with journalists and publishers to help strengthen digital skills, fight misinformation and collaborate on industry challenges.

Since joining Google in 2011, Matt has led multiple global and regional efforts to tackle misinformation, support fact-checking and strengthen media literacy. He led Google’s contribution to the European Media & Information Fund, the Global Fact Check Fund and multiple programs focused on serving underrepresented audiences. Before joining Google, he was a broadcast journalist at BBC News for eight years.
