The aim of the workshop is to give freelancers the tools to think critically about working in volatile situations - with an emphasis on careful preparation - before, during and after assignments. The Trust is involved in planning the course and bursaries to freelancers from the USA and Canada to attend.
Based at Columbia's campus, sessions cover risk assessment, trauma, cyber security, emergency first aid, and the prevention of rape and assault.
The course was led by Professor Judith Matloff, a journalist with over 20 years experience covering conflict around the world.
