Assistance Grants

Since 1995, the Rory Peck Trust has been providing support to freelance journalists and their families around the world. This includes freelancers who have been seriously injured, threatened, imprisoned, detained, forced into exile or killed as a result of their work.

Our Assistance Grants are for professional freelance journalists (and/or their families) who are facing a crisis directly related to their work.

Please note that you can only apply to and receive a grant from one Fund.

Crisis Fund

The Crisis Fund provides grants to freelance journalists to help with costs associated with an immediate crisis, either personal or in cases of force majeure such as natural disasters or political and civil unrest.

Recovery Fund

Recovery Fund The Recovery Fund provides grants to freelance journalists (and their families) who are facing financial hardship as a direct result of their work.  Due to unprecedented demand the 2022 budget for this fund is now spent.
