The risks faced by journalists in reporting conflict, crime and corruption are growing all the time. But there are things you can do to help ensure you stay as safe as possible.

Working independently, and often alone, freelancers are very vulnerable. Whether they are providing the pictures and stories that broadcasters, newspapers and agencies can rely on, or informing their own countries and communities, they risk injury, threats, kidnap or murder. This resource will help you manage and minimise these risks when preparing for your next assignment.
