These grants are designed specifically for journalists working on the African continent.

Bourse Ghislaine Dupont and Claude Verlon

West Africa 

In memory of two French reporters assassinated in Northern Mali in 2013, Radio France Internationale set up this grant to provide two journalists - a radio reporter and audio editor - with a month of training in Paris. Each year, the programme receives applications from one country only, and applicants must be under the age of 35.

China-Africa Reporting Grants

Run by Wits Journalism, this programme aims to support African journalists interested in the growing relationship between China and the African continent. Both Chinese and African journalists are available to apply for reporting grants, which cover travel, accommodation and other expenses.

Taco Kuiper Grants

South Africa

Taco Kuiper Grants are made to encourage investigate journalism in South African print media. A fund of up to R350 000 is available annually. Grants are available for print journalists or print publications seeking pre-publication help for investigative reporting of public interest.

Kenya Media Programme Individual Grants

Kenya

KMP invites Kenyan journalists to submit proposals for investigative and public interest stories. Proposals should reflect the applicant’s commitment to fairness and impartiality and should demonstrate the applicant’s interest in giving a voice to all sides of a story. KMP actively seeks proposals from rural based and female journalists. Applicants should have at least two years of relevant work experience.

Tanzania Media Foundation Grants

Tanzania

TMF offers five different grants. These have been developed in order to increase the quality, quantity and diversity of investigative and public interest journalism products in the media as well as to strengthen the professional capacity of journalists and media institutions.
