Rory Peck Awards Archive Now Online!

Rory Peck Awards Archive Now Online!
Thursday, 30 June 2016 Written by Tina Carr, Director, RPT

In this, the 21st year of the Rory Peck Awards, I'm really excited that we can finally share with you the amazing achievements of the freelance cameramen and camerawomen that the awards were set up to honour.

And they really are amazing. Since 1995 the Rory Peck Awards finalists and winners have covered many of the world’s most momentous events and uncovered some of its most hidden stories.

This unique archive is a real testament to the talents and stamina of freelancers who, more than twenty years later, continue to bring us extraordinary and important images via televisions, computers, phones and tablets. While the world of news - and the technology used to cover and consume it - has changed, the passion and purpose of freelancers remains the same.

This is a living archive - for now a record of all the winners and finalists with, where possible, images and extracts from their work going back to the first ever Rory Peck Award of 1995.  But news doesn't stop, stories don't finish, and where the stories are, that's where freelancers will be.

We want to build, update and add to this archive.  We would like all of you who ever participated in the Rory Peck Awards to be part of this archive and remain part of it. Help us fill in the gaps. Help your history expand and grow.

This is an absolutely unique record of freelance achievement. Long, long may it live!
