Call For Applications: Hostile Environment & First Aid Training, Nairobi, Kenya

The Rory Peck Trust, Vice and the ACOS Alliance are organising a Hostile Environment Training (HEFAT course) dedicated to freelance journalists working in the Horn of Africa and the Great Lakes region. The course will be held outside Nairobi, Kenya 18-21 July.

The training will be provided by Control Risks and will support participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to deal with conflict situations, emergencies and traumatic events.

We are offering 8 bursaries to freelance journalists to participate in the HEFAT; fully covering the costs of the course, including food and accommodation. Selected participants are expected to cover and make their own travel arrangements to and from the course venue. Travel grants may be provided in some cases.

Applications are now open to all freelance journalists living and working in the region who are available to travel to Nairobi and can commit to attending the four-day workshop from 18-21 July.

To apply, please complete the attached application form, with your current CV and a cover letter outlining your need for this training and send to catalina@rorypecktrust.org. The deadline for applications is Wednesday 5th of July.

The Rory Peck Training Fund makes hostile environment training affordable for freelance journalists. Since its launch in 2000, the Fund has given over 500 bursaries to freelance journalists, photographers, cameramen and filmmakers, enabling them to gain vital skills and knowledge.
