19 November: Presenters announced for Rory Peck Awards 2014, sponsored by Sony

Alex Crawford OBE and Alex Thomson will host this year's ceremony at London's BFI Southbank.

Alex Crawford, Sky News' Special Correspondent, and Alex Thomson, Chief Correspondent at Channel 4 News, are to host the Rory Peck Awards 2014 at London's BFI Southbank on Wednesday 19 November.


The Rory Peck Awards, sponsored by Sony, are uniquely dedicated to the work of freelance cameramen and camerawomen in news and current affairs. The event is also the main fundraiser for the Rory Peck Trust, which provides assistance and support to freelance journalists and their families worldwide.  

 "I'm really delighted that Alex Crawford and Alex Thomson will be hosting this year's awards", said Tina Carr, Director of the Rory Peck Trust.  "Each of them has a real understanding of the value of freelancers, as well as a strong connection with the Trust. It promises to be a very memorable evening.  

During her thirty year career as a journalist, Alex Crawford OBE has reported on events across Africa, South Asia, the Gulf and the Middle East including covering the Arab Spring uprisings in Tunisia, Egypt, Bahrain, Libya and Syria. She is based in Johannesburg. 

Alex Thomson is the longest-serving on-screen journalist on ITN’s Channel 4 News since it first began. Over 25 years he's covered over 20 wars, led major investigations and continues to front the programme from around the world.
