Josh Baker, Sara Obeidat & Isobel Yeung
The Other War
Commissioned by: BBC
Isobel Yeung, Josh Baker and Sara Obeidat navigate gun battles, combat raids and secretive meetings as they conduct an investigation deep inside the occupied West Bank. What they find raises serious questions about the conduct of the Israeli Military and uncovers a dangerous situation that is on the brink of exploding.
The work made international headlines and was deemed to be credible evidence of war crimes.
“The rigorous and in-depth investigative journalism of The Other War, through data analysis and reporting on camera, was commended by the judges. Amongst the present-day narratives, the film helped give historical context to the situation in the West Bank. It attempted to explore the wider impact of the 7 October attack and helped audiences understand the different perspectives of those involved. Furthermore, the unique premise of the project to analyse the rules of military engagement achieved significant impact on both general audiences and policymakers alike. Through scrutinising an under-reported area, the filmmakers have succeeded in bringing a critical new understanding to an extensively covered conflict.”
